Narcissism
I'm not much of an article reader...as you can tell by the majority of posts I have with lots of pics. That being said, I just read this very relevant article titled Are We In A Narcissism Epidemic? and it hit a core. Here is part of what author Raina Kelley has to say...
Treating the whole world as if it works for you doesn't suggest you're special, it means you're an ass. As an antidote to a skyrocketing self-worth, Twenge recommends humility, evaluating yourself more accurately, mindfulness and putting others first. Such values may seem quaint, maybe even self-defeating, to those of us who think we're special, but trust me: it gets easier with practice.

The Singing Butler
This painting tops my chart of favorite paintings.
Each time I see it, there is a different story that goes along with the painting.
It just makes me sigh and wish I were there.

Paint the hillsides
What an amazing idea...
Thanks to Print and Graffart for sharing this beautiful idea of art. The Favel Painting project was a dream to paint an entire hillside favela in the center of Rio.
"...Praça Cantão, the square at the entrance of the community of Santa Marta has been the scene of a spectacular art intervention and was turned into a vibrant artwork of monumental scale. 34 houses on the giant hillside favela, located in the center of Rio de Janeiro, have been painted in a design of colorful rays, radiating into the city. This 7000 square meter artwork is part of the ‘Favela Painting’ project by Haas&Hahn (Jeroen Koolhaas and Dre Urhahn), a project that aims to transform communities into landmarks and inspirational monuments as a part of Rio’s image, next to the statue of Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf mountain." (Graffart)
They have such a desire to improve the lives of those in the favela's through art. "'This work of art can make a colorful difference in the lives of local individuals, the community and the city of Rio. It has the potential of working as a catalyst in the processes of social renewal and change' said Dre Urhahn, one of the Favela Painting artists. Realization of the artwork is largely driven by the inhabitants of Santa Marta. 25 local youth have been trained as painters, providing for their own income and being responsible for turning their own neighborhood into a colorful monument. This grassroots method of working has proven to be successful in earlier projects, and gives the local community empowerment, pride and color." (Graffart)

Such a beautiful story.

How do you know when you have to much time on your hands?
This is an email I honestly received from work this morning. As soon as I finished peeing my pants laughing, I decided it was to good to keep to myself...
To all employees,
It has come to our attention that some well meaning individuals have been inspecting the AED's which are mounted throughout our facilities, to ensure their "workability".
We appreciate your concern for the well being of your fellow co-workers and in taking the time, to do these inspections. Each AED is currently on a monthly and annual inspection cycle. These official inspections are performed by our Facilities Maintenance Technicians, who have had the proper training on what to inspect the units for.
I would ask those of you, who are concerned with the proper function of the AEDs, to simply check the inspection tag which is mounted to the outside, of the cabinet, which holds the AED.
Please do not open the cabinet nor remove the AED from the cabinet to perform an inspection.
How would you write this email without peeing your pants laughing?
Also, isn't sending this email just planting ideas in your mind? Now I want to go find the defibulators!
