"Tim McGraw" by Taylor Swift is a great roll down your windows and sing along radio song. But, when I watched the music video a whole new realization came over me.
Love in our culture is portrayed just like this clip - carefree, no responsibilities, summer like. I absolutely adore that part of love, but what happens when the thunder storms roll in? Those are the moments when you learn if it is all real, or if it was just an emotion. Unconditional love is something that many relationships never experience. It happens when we stick by each others side despite whether the other is acting in love or consideration us. It happens when I think I have the answer, but let him make the call. Sometimes we don't realize we have acted unconditionally until after it is all over. While other times we have to will ourselves to live in that love.
Back to the clip.... What happens to the teenagers who society has convinced havng fun together means being in love? What happens when they get married? What happens when reality hits? Do they have the expectation that when the good times end so should the relationship? Do they bult? Do they miss out on real love?
How can we share what real love is without giving up the privacy of our relationship?
